Dr. Helena Grinshpun lectures at the Department of Asian Studies and the Asia Unit Coordinator at the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 2009 she completed her doctorate in anthropology and Japanese studies at Kyoto University, Japan. Her PhD thesis dealt with the incorporation of global cultural commodities in Japan. Since 2010 Helena has been teaching courses on Japanese contemporary society and culture at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her research interests include cultural representation and consumer behavior, urban culture and the structuring of public space, family, gender and social change in Japan
