I'm currently Associate Professor of Linguistics & Computer Science at Montclair State University (Montclair, NJ).
After I finished my studies at Hebrew University, I did my PhD in Computational Linguistics at the Ohio State University.
While my research is not in East-Asian Studies, my exposure to the Chinese language (which was my concentration) and culture is still very helpful in doing research in linguistics.
Back then I felt that we had very few opportunities to improve our language skills. We didn't even have textbooks, only some xeroxed manuscripts. I'm pretty sure these things have changed since then.
