Postdoctoral Fellow at the Martin Buber Society of Fellows, Hebrew University

Francesca Fiaschetti is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Martin Buber Society of Fellows, Hebrew University. She specialized in Sinology and Mongolian Studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, where she obtained her PhD in 2015 with a dissertation entitled Das Konzept des Auslandes in der Yuanzeit. Her research interests are: diplomacy in East Asia under Mongol Rule, political ideology of the Yuan dynasty, representations of identity and ethnicity in East Asia. She has co-edited two volumes on Han-non-Han relations: Political Strategies of Identity Building in non-Han empires in China, (Asiatische Forschungen 157, Wiesbaden: Harrassowitz, 2014) and Ethnicity and sinicization Reconsidered: Workshop on non-Han empires in China (Crossroads vol. 5, April 2012, Gossenberg: Ostasien Verlag). She is currently working at her first monograph entitled: Governing the Empire and the Limits of Belonging: the Concept of Foreign Land in the Yuan Period.
