Political Legitimacy of the Chinese Communist Party: 

Findings from a National Survey in China

Abstract: 
In contrast to many other countries in the world, China remains a remarkably stable country that has been enjoying close to double-digit economic growth rate for more than three decades. Speculations about collapse of the current Chinese political system have been facing increasing doubt. There is little sign of significant change with regard to the Chinese political system in the near future. People wonder why the Chinese Communist Party has successfully maintained its rule in the most populous country in the world. Findings from Asian Barometer Survey recently conducted in China may reveal answers to this question.
